CMO Summit Video: Dave Scott (me!) on Demand Generation

November | 16 | 2009

cake Last week, I had the pleasure of moderating a panel at the CMO Club Summit in San Francisco. It is humbling to think two years ago I was an attendee dazzled just to be in the company of such visionaries, and this year I had the honor to actually address this group of my sharpest peers.  Overall, it was a great event with amazing energy, and no one threw fruit so I think it was a success.  Here is a video from the event:

Being chosen to moderate a panel on “New Models for Demand Generation” was awesome in itself, but may have had even more resonance for me in some ways than the average speaker.

What made keynoting this year so special was that the first summit I attended was really the birthplace of my start-up Marketfish. By hobnobbing with fellow marketers at that first CMO Summit, I truly realized that my personal frustration over list marketing conditions wasn’t personal at all-it was an industry grievance. That event gave me the rallying cry I needed to found Marketfish, a business centered around creating a better, more intuitive list marketing experience. And the free-flowing wine at that event helped me come up with the name (believe me, there were crazier ones).

And because double features are always more fun, check out this blast from the past video where I talk about the lead generation problem at the first CMO Summit. Boy, do I have a one-track mind or what?

Last but not least, I wanted to include a shout-out to my panel co-moderators, Craig Rosenberg of Tippit and Rob Fuggetta of Zuberance. It is an honor to attend this event in any capacity, and I look forward to more fruitful networking through this organization in the future.

UPDATE: Here is a picture from the event!
